PepsiCo: acquires Rockstar for 3.85 billion dollars

(CercleFinance.com) - PepsiCo announced on Wednesday that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Rockstar, a manufacturer of energy drinks, for 3.
85 billion dollars (about 3.4 billion euros).

The New York based soft drinks giant explains that this acquisition, which it describes as "highly strategic," will enable it to get a foothold on the fast-growing market for energy drinks, in particular by capitalising on the success of its soda brand Mountain Dew.

Launched in 2001, Rockstar, offers over 30 different drinks which it sells at grocery stores and convenience stores in around thirty countries.

PepsiCo states that it signed a partnership agreement with Rockstar for North America about ten years ago.

The acquisition is expected to close by the end of H1, Pepsi said.
