Nvidia: closes 7 billion dollar acquisition of Mellanox

(CercleFinance.com) - US chipmaker Nvidia on Monday said that it has completed its 7 billion dollar deal to acquire Mellanox, in a move merging two of the world's leading companies in high-performance and data center computing.


The acquisition - initially announced for March 2019 - combines Nvidia's computing expertise with Mellanox's high-performance networking technology, which will boost the use of AI and data science, the companies said.

With Mellanox, Nvidia seems to be positioned to benefit from the growing adoption of next-generation IT-intensive AI workloads.

Analysts had previously estimated that the combination of Nvidia and Mellanox would expand their target market by 11 billion dollars by 2023.
