GE: to deploy SMR reactors in Canada
(CercleFinance.com) - GE announced on Friday evening that the province of Ontario (Canada) is working with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to begin planning and licensing the deployment of three more GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) at the site of the new Darlington nuclear project.
A total of four BWRX-300 SMRs are now scheduled for deployment at this east Toronto site.
OPG and the Province of Ontario have taken a leading position in the deployment of a new nuclear power plant with a project that will deliver significant energy and economic benefits to Ontario and Canada, GEH said.
