Ford: strategic collaboration with GlobalFoundries

(CercleFinance.com) - Ford announced Thursday that it has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with GlobalFoundries to improve its supply of semiconductors.


The US carmaker said the non-binding agreement will see the company open new chip production capacity.

The partnership covers processors and controllers used in driver assistance systems (ADAS), battery management and networks to equip the interior of vehicles, Ford said.

Beyond this immediate scope, Ford and GF have already said they are considering expanding the manufacturer's manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand from the US automotive industry.
