Walt Disney: Q2 EPS nearly doubles
(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday night Walt Disney reported a 92% increase in EPS to 50 cents for Q2 2020-21.
Excluding extraordinary items, EPS rose by almost a third (+32%) to 79 cents, significantly ahead of analysts' estimates.
The group's segment operating profit edged up 2% to 2.46 billion euros, despite revenues falling 13% to 15.6 billion dollars, as Covid-19 continued to plague its parks, experiences and products division in particular (revenues -44%).
The media and entertainment giant said that since the end of Q2 2019-20, the group's theme parks have been closed or are only operating with significantly reduced capacity, while ocean cruises have been suspended.
