Cisco: acquires voice specialist BabbleLabs

(CercleFinance.com) - Cisco announced on Wednesday that it has acquired BabbleLabs, a Californian specialist in noise reduction and voice quality enhancement technologies, for an undisclosed amount.


According to the world leader in network equipment, the acquisition is part of its strategy to integrate a growing number of Artificial Intelligence (AI) components into its collaborative tools platform.

Cisco says that the transaction will enable it to improve the sound quality of Webex, its offer for corporate video conferencing and online meetings.

BabbleLabs uses advanced techniques to distinguish human speech from unwanted noise and to improve the quality of transmissions for communications and conferencing applications.

According to its latest quarterly publication, Cisco now has free cash of over 29 billion dollars.
