Boeing: delivers 702MP+ satellite to Viasat

(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing today announced that it has delivered the 702MP+, the company's most powerful satellite platform to date, custom-designed for network provider Viasat.


The platform includes the largest solar panels ever produced by Boeing's subsidiary, Spectrolab, as well as batteries and supporting electronics that generate well over 30 kW of solar power, Boeing says.

The company adds that the satellite will be significantly larger than most geostationary satellites, requiring highly sophisticated and reliable hardware and software to maintain optimal control of the satellite.
