Boeing: new anti-submarine warfare capabilities

(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing announced that its High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare Weapon System - or HAAWC - has met all requirements for US Navy initial operational capability status.


The HAAWC enables the Boeing P-8A Poseidon to deploy MK 54 torpedoes at or below its cruising altitude.

This offers greater flexibility and capability with higher altitude launches and longer ranges than before, Boeing said.

Additional commissioning of HAAWC units is planned until 2024, with the possibility of production continuing until 2030 under the current contract.
