Boeing: big order from IAG

(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing today announced that it has received a major order from International Airlines Group (IAG, a holding company formed by the merger of British Airways and Iberia) for a combined total of 50 737-8-200 and 737-10 aircraft, with an option to purchase up to 100 additional aircraft.

The addition of new Boeing 737s is an important part of IAG's short-haul fleet renewal. These latest generation aircraft are more fuel efficient than those which they will replace and are in line with the group's commitment to become net zero by 2050, IAG said.

The 737-8-200 will enable IAG to configure the aircraft with up to 200 seats, increasing revenue potential and reducing fuel consumption. The 737-10, meanwhile, can carry up to 230 passengers in a single-class configuration within a 3300-mile radius.
