Apple: Brussels appeals against July ruling
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission announced on Friday that it has decided to appeal to the European Court of Justice against a ruling by the Court of First Instance of the European Union invalidating Apple's payment of 13 billion euros in tax arrears to Ireland.
In a statement, the executive arm of the EU said that the ruling of the Court of First Instance raises important legal questions, but above all considers that it made a number of errors.
Last July, the EU court overturned a commission decision imposing a 13 billion euro tax penalty on Apple.
The court found that Brussels had failed to prove that the US tech giant had been granted a "selective advantage".
