Amazon: AWS region created for Spain

(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon Web Services today announced the launch of its eighth infrastructure region in Europe, the AWS Europe (Spain) region, to support tens of thousands of customers in the Iberian Peninsula, including BBVA, Meliá, Renfe, Repsol and the Spanish government.


The new region enables the group's customers to run workloads and store data securely in Spain, while serving end users with even lower latency.

AWS estimates that its planned expenditure on building and operating the new region will support over 1,300 full-time jobs, with a planned investment of 2.5 billion dollars in Spain over 10 years.
