Alfa Laval: fourth-quarter profit up, sees demand flat

(CercleFinance.com) - Engineering group Alfa Laval posted higher quarterly profit on Tuesday and said it expects demand in the first quarter to be about the same as in the fourth quarter.


Alfa Laval shares were up 2.1% at 240.1 Swedish kronor in early trading on Tuesday, outperforming a 1% rise in Stockholm's main index.

Fourth-quarter earnings before interest, tax and amortisation (adjusted EBITA) rose to 2.25 billion Swedish kronor from the previous year's 1.78 billion.

Sales at the maker of heat, cool, separate and transport systems rose by 12% to 12.96 billion Swedish kronor.

Alfa Laval said its order intake decreased by 6% to 11.15 billion Swedish kronor.

The Lund-based company also said that it will propose a dividend of 5.50 Swedish kronor, up from 5 Swedish kronor per share.
