Equinor: EU clears joint acquisition of Triton Power

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has cleared the acquisition of joint control of Triton Power by SSE Thermal and Equinor.


Triton Power is a power generation company operating three facilities in the UK, providing national grid services, electrical power and CHP to industrial customers.

SSE Thermal, part of the SSE Group, owns and operates conventional thermal power stations in the UK and Ireland.

Equinor is an international energy company whose business activities consist primarily of the exploration, production, transportation, refining and marketing of oil and oil products, gas and other forms of energy, including renewable energy, on a global scale.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not give rise to any competition concerns as Triton Power has no activities in the European Economic Area.
