Equinor: unveils operating base for Dogger Bank

(CercleFinance.com) - The developers of the Dogger Bank wind farm have unveiled the design of the future operations and maintenance (O&M) base for the world's largest offshore wind farm.

The multi-million pound structure will be built in the Port of Tyne in the UK and will act as the main hub for the operation of the wind farm, which, when completed, will be capable of supplying around 5% of the UK's electricity demand.

SSE Renewables is in charge of the wind farm's construction, while Equinor will operate it for up to 35 years, creating over 200 direct jobs in the North East of England.

Working with international design firm Ryder Architecture, which is based in Newcastle, Equinor has designed the O&M base to be built from environmentally friendly materials. Electric vehicle chargers, solar panels and efficient heating systems have been included to ensure the facility has a low CO2 impact.
