Technip Energies: wins contract from ExxonMobil

(CercleFinance.com) - Technip Energies announced on Thursday that, as part of a consortium with Turner Industries of the US, it has been awarded a contract by ExxonMobil for a carbon capture and sequestration project in Louisiana.

The group states that it will be in charge of engineering and equipment supply, while Turner Industries will be responsible for construction.

The contract covers the delivery of a carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) system that could condition, compress and store up to 800,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

This carbon would come from a manufacturing plant in Convent, Louisiana, owned by Nucor, North America's largest steel producer and recycler.

The system will enable the Nucor plant to produce direct reduced iron (DRI), reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 80% compared to traditional blast furnace iron production.

ExxonMobil had already chosen Technip Energies to carry out the FEED in collaboration with Turner Industries.
