Aegon: suspending dividends, as requested by regulators

(CercleFinance.com) - Aegon will comply with regulatory calls to postpone all dividend payments, the Dutch insurer said on Monday.

This means that the company will forego its 2019 final dividend of 0.16 euro per share, it said in a statement this morning.

Taking into account the interim dividend that was paid in September 2019, the total dividend for 2019 will hence amount to 0.15 euro per share, Aegon said.

On 2 April, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority and DNB, Aegon's principal regulator, recommended insurers to temporarily postpone all dividend payouts.

Altough it will hold its AGM on 15 May, Aegon is urging shareholders not to attend the meeting in person, asking them instead to register through an e-voting system.

Aegon said it plans to provide an update on its business performance over the first quarter of 2020 and its capital position on 12 May.
