Aegon: sells 50% stake in Japanse partnership

(CercleFinance.com) - Aegon is selling its 50% stake in its partnership with Sony Life in Japan for approximately 130 million euros as part of its efforts to focus on profitable growth, the Dutch financial group said on Friday.


This morning the insurer announced that it has reached an agreement to sell its stake in their variable annuity joint ventures in Japan to Sony Life.

Aegon said that it now plans to focus on its most promising businesses in Asia serving the fastest growing customer segments - primarily the high net worth segment.

The deal is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
