Airbus: contract for 20 Eurofighters for Spain
(CercleFinance.com) - Airbus has announced that the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA) has signed a landmark contract for the acquisition of 20 new generation Eurofighters as part of the Halcon program.
The order includes the delivery of 16 single-seat and four two-seat electronically-scanned radar (E-Scan) fighter aircraft, which will replace the F-18 fleet operated by the Spanish Air Force in the Canary Islands.
The contract will bring the total number of Spanish Eurofighters to 90. Delivered from 2026 onwards, the new aircraft will strengthen the strength and posture of the Spanish Air Force within NATO, and guarantee an industrial load plan until 2030.
The 2.04 billion euro contract, which was approved by the Spanish Council of Ministers on 14 December 2021, includes the aircraft, engines, a simulator and associated support services.
