Eni: partners UKAEA in developing fusion energy

(CercleFinance.com) - Eni announces that it has signed a collaboration agreement with the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) - the British national body responsible for the research and development of sustainable fusion energy - to jointly develop R&D activities in this field.

This cooperation begins with the construction of the world's largest and most advanced tritium fuel cycle facility, an essential element for future fusion power plants.

The UKAEA-Eni H3AT (pronounced 'heat') Tritium Loop Facility, located on the Culham campus, will be completed in 2028.

The recovery and reuse of tritium will play a fundamental role in the supply and production of fuel for future fusion power plants, and will be essential for improving the efficiency of this technology.
