Enel: wins 11.5GW of contracts after Terna auction
(CercleFinance.com) - As part of the capacity market auction awarding contracts, Enel won the auction, launched by Terna, the Italian Transmission System Operator (TSO).
Enel won contracts for 11.5 GW out of a total of around 42.2 GW awarded by the TSO, comprising 10.5 GW of existing capacity and 1 GW abroad.
Introduced in 2019, capacity market auctions are one of the tools envisaged by Italy's National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan to achieve the country's energy transition goals, enabling the closure of coal-fired power plants by 2025 and encouraging the investments needed in flexible technologies to guarantee the adequacy and security of Italy's national power system.
