Telecom Italia: EU authorises its takeover.

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has authorised Vivendi's takeover of Telecom Italia.
However, this decision is subject to the divestment of Telecom Italia's stake in Persidera.

"The Commission found that, post-transaction, Vivendi would have had an incentive to raise prices charged to TV channels in the market for wholesale access to digital terrestrial television networks, where Persidera and Mediaset each hold a significant share."

The Commission also examined whether the link between Vivendi's activities in Italy in the advertising, music, television and mobile games sectors and Telecom Italia's activities in the wireline and wireless telecommunications sector posed competition issues.
