Ryanair: Brussels inquiry into Montpellier

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission says it has opened an in-depth investigation into the marketing services contracts concluded between the Association for Promoting Tourist and Economic Flows (APFTE) and Ryanair at Montpellier Airport in France.


"We will investigate whether regional and local authorities in France granted an undue economic advantage to Ryanair over its competitors," explains Margrethe Vestager, Commissioner for Competition Policy.

Brussels explains that since APFTE is financed almost entirely by regional and local public entities, it concluded, on a preliminary basis, that the contracts concluded with the Irish company are financed by State resources.
