Accenture: buys Brazilian cybersecurity expert

(CercleFinance.com) - Accenture said that it has acquired Real Protect, a Brazil-based provider of managed security and cyber defense services to extend its cybersecurity capabilities in Latin America, the technology and business consulting giant said on Monday.


Accenture said Real Protect's approximately 90 cybersecurity experts, who serve clients in the healthcare, energy, oil & gas, and financial services industries, will join its global workforce of nearly 7,000 professionals.

Real Protect CEO Daniel Lemos will lead Accenture's managed security services business in Latin America.

Founded in 2005, Real Protect is headquartered in Rio de Janeiro and has an office in Sao Paulo. Powered by two security operation centers, the firm offers threat monitoring, detection and incident-response services.

Brazil is home to cybercriminal groups with specific tactics which constitute a cyber threat, Accenture said. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
