Shell: wind power purchase agreement with Dogger Bank

(CercleFinance.com) - Shell is one the signatories of the latest round of power purchase agreements (PPAs) relating to the massive Dogger Bank wind project that is currently under construction in the North Sea.


The energy giant has entered into a 15-year agreement with SSE Renewables and Equinor, the two project managers, to acquire 20% of the electricity generated in the third phase of the program.

Taking into account the first two phases of the project, Shell has now secured 720MW of capacity, out of a total volume expected to reach 3.6GW by the project operators.

When completed in 2026, the Dogger Bank wind farm - located on the north-east coast of England - is expected to be the largest wind farm in the world.
