AstraZeneca: US approves acquisition of Alexion

(CercleFinance.com) - AstraZeneca announced on Friday that the US antitrust authority (FTC) had given its approval for the proposed acquisition of US biopharmaceutical company Alexion.


The 39 billion dollar acquisition, which it originally announced last December, was approved without requiring any asset sales.

Founded in 1992 in Connecticut, Alexion develops treatments for patients with severe rare diseases.

This business itself is expected to post double-digit growth.

The European, British and Japanese authorities have yet to approve the deal.
