Pearson: stock up on growth prospects this year

(CercleFinance.com) - On Monday, Pearson, the world's leading educational publisher, reported annual results that are in line with expectations and said it expects its sales to rise this year.


This morning the British publishing group reported FY adjusted operating profit of 313 million pounds, down 40% from 581 million pounds in 2019, on sales that are down 10% in organic terms.

However, for FY 2021, Pearson targets positive annual sales growth, with adjusted operating profit in line with current market expectations.

The group has also reported a reorganisation of its businesses into five distinct business lines, namely e-learning, higher education, English language learning, employee skills and qualifications assessment.

Pearson shares are up almost 5% after all these announcements, posting the largest increase in the London FTSE 100 Index, which is just under water (-0.1%).
