HSBC: to sell Canadian business to RBC for $10.1bn
(CercleFinance.com) - HSBC Holdings has ssaid that its wholly-owned subsidiary, HSBC Overseas Holdings (UK) Limited, has today entered into an agreement to sell its Canadian banking business (i.
e. HSBC Canada) to Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), subject to customary approvals.
RBC will acquire 100% of the issued common shares of HSBC Canada for C$13.5 billion, or US$10.1 billion.
The transaction is expected to close in late 2023.
