BAE Systems: $12m Air Force Research Lab contract

(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems yesterday announced that it has received a 12 million dollar Phase 2 contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) for the Maritime Weapons Innovation Program (MWIP) and Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (also known as QUICKSINK).


The QUICKSINK munition concept is based on an open weapon system architecture providing semi-autonomous precision targeting of surface ships at low cost.

Its new modular multi-mode seeker enables accurate identification and engagement of surface targets at long ranges and over a large area, BAE Systems said.

While not enormous in size, the market is nodding in approval, with the share currently up almost 1.5%, twice the market's gain in London.
