BHP: approves 2.9 billion dollar investment in Australia

(CercleFinance.com) - BHP, the world's biggest miner, said on Thursday that it has approved capital expenditure worth 2.
9 billion dollars for its South Flank iron ore mine in Western Australia.

The project - which will create around 2,500 construction jobs, and over 600 operational roles - will be a major contributor to the group's ore reserves, while enabling it to benefit from price premiums for higher-quality gross and refined products, it said.

The first ore is expected in 2021, with the project expected to produce ore for over 25 years.
