CGG: starts Santos VIII Study in Brazil

(CercleFinance.com) - CGG has announced the launch of a large broadband 3D multi-client survey, called Santos VIII, in the pre-salt area of the deepwater Santos basin offshore Brazil, as part of a huge upstream multi-client program in advance of Brazil's pre-salt licensing rounds.


Santos VIII will cover an area exceeding 8,000 km². BroadSeis seismic data will be processed in the CGG imaging center in Rio de Janeiro using the latest FWI (Full-Waveform Inversion) imaging technologies.

It will then be merged with the Constellation survey data of 44,000 km² to obtain a regional image. The first results will be available in the fourth quarter of 2018 and final data in the second quarter of 2019.
