Spie: contract for optical fibre in Germany

(CercleFinance.com) - Spie announces that it has been selected by the public operator Stadtwerke Schwedt to install a complete fiber-optic network with distribution frames, that will serve 1,600 homes, public facilities and commercial premises in Schwedt, in the Uckermark region of Germany.


"Financed by the federal government, the Land and the region, the operation was put out to tender last summer. The work should be completed by the end of 2021," says the multi-technical service provider.

Spie has already dug more than 25 kilometres of cable trench, laid more than 33 kilometres of empty conduct and set up the associated distributors. By the end of 2020, around 300 service connections had been prepared and 13 new distributors and sizeable engineering sites set up as part of the funded project.
