Voltalia: floating solar power plant project in Portugal

(CercleFinance.com) - Renewable energy group Voltalia has announced that, following a call to tender, it has won its first floating solar power plant project in Portugal, with a total capacity of 33 to 40 megawatts (depending on final optimisation), backed by a 15-year electricity sales contract.


The new plant will be installed near the Cabril dam in Sertã and will cover 33 hectares, producing green electricity equivalent to the consumption of over 70,300 inhabitants.

Voltalia will develop, build and operate the plant, a project that is expected to be commissioned by 2026. Its revenues will be guaranteed by a 15-year contract awarded by the state, with a price of 41.025 euros per megawatt hour.
