Getlink: passenger shuttle traffic down 7% in May

(CercleFinance.com) - Getlink announces that its passenger shuttles transported 213,613 passenger cars last month, down 7% from May 2018, due to an unfavourable calendar effect, with the late Easter holiday weekend in April.


Truck traffic in May 2019 also fell (-11% to 127,697) following the destocking of British companies in April-May, after stocking operations made over the first three months of the year (in view of Brexit, which was originally scheduled for 29 March).

"The delay to Brexit due to the political uncertainty in the UK seems to be affecting economic activity, as shown by macroeconomic indicators and a contraction in industrial production," the group said.
