EDF: creates NUWARD subsidiary to develop its SMR

(CercleFinance.com) - EDF announces the creation of its new subsidiary NUWARD, which is designed to strengthen the development of its small modular NUWARD SMR reactor.


Having finalised the preliminary design, NUWARD is now embarking on the detailed design, in line with its goal of starting construction in 2030 for the benchmark plant in France, with the support of EDF Group and its partners.

This subsidiary aims to become the European leader in SMR, offering reliable, low-carbon energy at a competitive cost to the global market.

NUWARD will engage with the French authorities to evaluate and select potential sites for the reference plant in France.
