EDF: 'repowering' of a wind farm in Thuringe

(CercleFinance.com) - EDF Renouvelables has announced the "repowering," i.
e. the refurbishment of a facility that has reached the end of its life, of the Eckolstädt wind farm in the German state of Thüringen - the first of an upcoming series.

This wind farm currently has 10 new generation wind turbines. With an initial capacity of 14.5 MW, it now has an installed capacity of 34.5 MW and provides power for nearly 18,500 local households.

EDF Renouvelables is currently studying other repowering projects in Germany, where there is a potential for 6,000 wind turbines (4.5 GW) to be renewed by the end of 2020, and around 1,600 wind turbines (2,5 GW) per year between 2021 and 2026.
