Eutelsat: successfully launches Konnect satellite

(CercleFinance.com) - Eutelsat announces that its Eutelsat Konnect satellite has been successfully launched by Arianespace towards the geostationary transfer orbit aboard an Ariane 5 rocket, which took off from the Kourou Space Center in Guiana on 16 January.


The separation of this all-electric satellite built by Thales Alenia Space occurred after a flight of 27 minutes. The systems making up the satellite were then successfully verified within three hours.

With a total capacity of 75 Gbps, Konnect will enable the operator to provide Internet access services with speeds of up to 100 Mbps starting from the autumn. It will cover all or part of 40 African countries and 15 European countries.
