Alstom: £1.97bn rail contract with HS2

(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom and Hitachi Rail have announced the signing of contracts with High Speed Two (HS2) to design, manufacture and maintain the next generation of very high speed trains in the UK.


The contract is worth 1.97 billion pounds, including initial maintenance of the trains lasting for 12 years.

The trains will have a top speed of 360 km/h.

The fleet will be fully electric and, thanks to its lower mass per passenger, aerodynamics, energy recovery and the latest energy-efficient traction technology, this very high-speed train will be one the most energy-efficient in the world, Alstom group said.
