Alstom: inaugurates tramway in Ouargla (Algeria)

(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday the Algerian Minister of Public Works and Transport, Abdelghani Zaalane inaugurated the first tramway in the city of Ouargla, Alstom reported in a statement.


In September 2013 the French transport giant and CITA, its joint venture in Algeria, won a contract for the supply of a tramway system, including 23 Citadis trams, signalling, traction substations, telecommunication systems, operating assistance, maintenance equipment and ticketing.

The new line connects the city of Ouargla and its new city through the city centre and all the universities of Ouargla, on a route of 9.7 kilometres, with 16 stations en route.
