Alstom: merger with Siemens Mobility on track

(CercleFinance.com) - At its quarterly trading update, which reflects acceleration in organic growth, Alstom indicated that its project to merge with Siemens Mobility is on track, with the merger still set to be completed by the end of 2018.


The French railway equipment supplier stated that the procedure for consulting and informing works councils is underway and the signing of the contractual documents is expected in the first quarter of the calendar year 2018. Regulatory authorities still have to decide. Alstom is set to organise a general meeting for shareholders on this subject in July.

Meanwhile, Siemens has started the separation from its Mobility division.
Remember that the merger of Siemens' railway division with Alstom will not be via a takeover bid, but rather by the contribution of Siemens Mobility to Alstom, which will remain listed in Paris under the name Siemens Alstom, as is Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, for wind turbines, in Madrid.
