Valneva: positive data against Omicron variant

(CercleFinance.com) - Valneva has announced results from a preliminary laboratory study which demonstrate that antibodies from the serum of people who are vaccinated with three doses of its inactivated Covid-19 vaccine candidate, VLA2001, neutralised the Omicron variant.


Serum from 30 participants in the phase 1/2 trial, VLA2001-201, was used in a pseudo-virus assay to assess neutralisation of the historical SARS-CoV-2 virus, as well as the Delta and Omicron variants.

All 30 samples showed neutralising antibodies against historical virus and Delta, and 26 samples against Omicron. The average reduction in neutralisation against the historical virus was 2.7-fold for Delta and 16.7-fold for Omicron.
