Orange: EU approves acquisition of Voo and Brutélé

(CercleFinance.com) - After an in-depth investigation, the European Commission today announced that it has approved the proposed acquisition of VOO and Brutélé by Orange.


Until now, the Commission was concerned about the possible competition problems that this transaction would generate.

In order to address these concerns, Orange has committed to provide Telenet with access to the existing fixed network infrastructure it acquires from VOO and Brutélé in the Walloon Region and in parts of Brussels for at least 10 years.

Orange also undertakes to provide Telenet with the future fiber optic network (FTTP) to be rolled out in the coming years, which will make the commitments permanent.

The Commission has therefore concluded that the proposed transaction, as modified by the commitments, would no longer raise competition concerns.
