Renault: talks resumed with Nissan, according to the press

(CercleFinance.com) - According to Les Echos, Renault and Nissan are preparing to extensively review the framework of their alliance, after resuming talks over the summer.

The Renault share is up around 1% this morning, while the CAC 40 is down slightly.

According to the French business daily, relations between both car manufacturers, which have been very difficult since the Carlos Ghosn saga, now seem to be better, and there seem to have been many exchanges in recent months. This should be compared with the deterioration of the automotive market as a whole, Nissan's lacklustre results and the departure of CEO, Hiroto Saikawa.

Amongst topics that have been covered, there seems to be a rebalancing of the Alliance, (Les Echos even mentions sidelining the 'Rama', the secret agreement which governs the relations between both car makers), and the potential reduction of Renault's stake in Nissan (currently around 43%) to around 20% to 25%. To be continued...
