Thales: contract to modernise sonars in Australia

(CercleFinance.com) - Thales announced on Thursday a major contract worth 230 million Australian dollars (c.
147 million euros) with the Royal Australian Navy, for the modernisation of sonars equipping six Collins class submarines.

This contract is part of a large program led by the government to upgrade the sensors of these platforms, worth a total of 542 million Australian dollars, a key factor in extending the life of its fleet.

Thales says that production and integration will be provided by its Rydalmere Center of Excellence, west of Sydney, which will require 140 jobs and create 50 new jobs dedicated to the project.
