Sanofi: to manufacture Comirnaty in Germany

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Medicines Agency (EMA) last night announced that its Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has approved two new manufacturing sites for the production of Comirnaty, the Covid vaccine developed by Pfizer/BioNTech.


One is operated by Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbH in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, while the second is operated by Siegfried Hameln GmbH in Hameln, Germany.

In both cases, the finished product will be manufactured. Together, both sites will be able to supply up to 50 million additional doses of the vaccine from 2021. Note that these approvals do not need to be validated by the European Commission and the sites can become operational immediately.
