Bouygues: Commission authorises acquisition of Equans
(CercleFinance.com) - Under EU Merger Regulations the European Commission has cleared Bouygues' acquisition of Equans.
As the merger brings together two of the leading providers of railway contact line installation and maintenance services in Belgium, the Commission was concerned that the transaction, as originally notified, would have reduced competition in this market.
To address the Commission's competition concerns, Bouygues offered to divest Colas Rail Belgium in its entirety.
The Commission therefore concluded that the proposed transaction, as modified by the commitments, would no longer raise competition concerns in the European Economic Area. Note that the decision is conditional upon full compliance with the commitments.
