Carrefour: set to tackle food waste

(CercleFinance.com) - The Carrefour group today announced that on the forthcoming World Food Day of 16 October, alongside the start-up Too Good to Go, it is taking proactive steps to reduce food waste.

"Carrefour is... testing new wordings to do with minimum durability dates (MDD) on its products. Indeed, these dates are often misunderstood and are responsible for 20% of households' food wastage" Carrefour said.

The group is also joining forces with Too Good To Go's move to encourage brands and retailers to revise the semantics used for MDD on packaging and products. The retailer is appealing to consumers to sign and share the #ChangeTaDate petition hosted on the Change.org website.
