Air Liquide: renewable hydrogen at TotalEnergies site

(CercleFinance.com) - Air Liquide and TotalEnergies have announced a long-term contract, as part of the conversion of the TotalEnergies Grandpuits site into a biorefinery, to produce and recycle renewable and low-carbon hydrogen.


Under the agreement, TotalEnergies is committed to purchasing the hydrogen produced for the platform's needs, with Air Liquide due to invest over 130 million euros to build and operate a new hydrogen production unit.

This unit will partly use biogas from TotalEnergies' biorefinery and will be equipped with Air Liquide's Cryocap CO2 capture technology, which will avoid the emission of 150,000 tonnes of CO2 per year compared to existing processes.
