Safran: MoU with AECC for WZ16 engine

(CercleFinance.com) - Safran announces that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with AECC to strengthen their industrial cooperation around the Franco-Chinese helicopter engine, the WZ16, which was certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China on 10 October.


As part of this agreement, both groups are committed to repairing and beginning the mass production of the WZ16 for the first order of 120 engines, with discussions for an extension of another 100 engines.

They pledge to study the creation of a joint venture in China for the support and maintenance of WZ16 engines that are in service, as well as new applications for the WZ16, particularly in the field of aircraft with a turboprop version of this engine.
