TF1: audiences down in January
(CercleFinance.com) - The TF1 group's audience figures dipped again in January, despite the success of 'Star Ac', good ratings for its dramas and a record month for 'Bonjour' and 'Quotidien'.
While it still claims to be the "leader" among audiovisual groups on its target audiences, its market share amongst women responsible for purchases under 50 - a strategic demographic - fell to 32.6% last month, compared with 35.5% in January 2024.
Among 25-49 year-olds, another key demographic, its audience share fell below 30%, to 29.9%, compared with 32.2% a year earlier.
Its flagship Saturday evening program, the musical 'Star Academy', lost market share, to 34% among women responsible for purchases, compared with 35% in January 2024.
The 8pm news now boasts an audience share of just 26.9%, compared with 28% a year earlier.
On the positive side, 'Bonjour!', TF1's morning show presented by Bruce Toussaint, posted a historic month with an audience share of 10.4%, while 'Quotidien' achieved the highest audience share on DTT last month, all programs combined, with a peak of 2.6 million viewers.
The group also cites the excellent performance of its French dramas, such as 'Tout le bleu du ciel', 'Erica' and 'Panda'.
At 1:50 pm, TF1 shares were down 1.2%, while the SBF 120 was losing 1.9% at the same time.
