Atos: pens deal with ECMWF weather centre
(CercleFinance.com) - Atos announces the signing of a new 4-year contract worth over 80 million euros (approximately 67.
8 million pounds) with the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).
This contract will enable Atos, "to supply its BullSequana XH2000 supercomputer, which is one of the most powerful meteorological supercomputers in the world," it said.
The supercomputer will support hundreds of researchers from over 30 European countries in their work on medium- and long-term weather forecasts and outlooks.
"Notably, it will enable them to reliably predict the occurrence and intensity of extreme weather events significantly ahead of time, essential to respond to the climate and weather crisis facing us today," Atos added.
